asyndeton: commas used (with no conjunction) to separate a series of words. The parts emphasized equally when the conjunction is omitted; in addition, asyndeton speeds up the flow of the sentence. Asyndeton tales the form of X,Y,Z as opposed to X,Y, and Z
"If you are a dreamer, come in,
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer...
If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire"
-Shel Silverstein, "Invitation" in Where the Sidewalk Ends ; copyright 1974
The above list of types of people Silverstein uses in his poem contains no conjunctions. Besides providing rhythm, this enforces a sense of equality among the people listed. Under most circumstances, a person labeled "liar" would not be considered equal to a "pray-er," however, Silverstein lists all of the types of people in succession, without conjunctions, making no distinctions, other than labels, between the people. That is, all of the people receive the same invitation, at the same time. By listing the labels without conjunctions and then immediately issuing the invitation, Silverstein, in effect, eliminates the labels, equalizing the invited parties.

Bombast
bombast: inflated language; the use of high-sounding language for a trivial subject
"Dihydrogen monoxide"
Dihydrogen monoxide is simply water. However, the author uses the complicated term, "dihydrogen monoxide," to add some legitimacy to his or her claims. The website on which the above term is found is run by an organization devoted to stopping the use of water; and, because the author uses a term ambiguous in meaning to many people, the majority of the readers will take seriously the website's claims rather than laughing at them as they would if the author did not employ the literary strategy of bombast.
